The ASK 1340 desk designed by Nissen & Gehl MDD stores many features, such as small holes in the table top to hide wiring and the drawers are sunk nicely together with dovetails. The warm glow from the wood is in a nice interplay with the narrow legs in stainless steel, which gives the desk an almost floating look. The stainless steel goes again on the drawer fronts, with the long, slim and stylish handles.

The PK52A Student Desk was designed by Poul Kjærholm for the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, while he was a member of the academic staff.

Kjærholm created the PK52A Student Desk by bringing wood and steel together in a clean, light construction. With its pared-down expression the desk is a perfect example of Kjærholm’s great contribution to Danish design.

The cleverly constructed table highlights Kjærholm’s signature ability to unite traditional craftsmanship and industrial design. The simple shape embodies the lightness and geometric elegance that Kjærholm became renowned for – his pioneering role in designs such as the PK52A Student Desk also helped place Danish design on the world map.

The PK52A is available in a larger version as the PK52 Professor Desk. Both desks can effortlessly serve as dining tables as their tabletops are reversible, making it possible to use each side for its own purpose. The tables also have an optional drawer as a beautiful storage solution.

The PK52 Professor Desk was designed by Poul Kjærholm for the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Versatile and slender, the desk established Kjærholm’s reputation for uniting the best of traditional craftsmanship and industrial design.

Drawing on his cabinetmaking experience, Kjærholm developed a new table structure that showcased his mastery of steel and wood. Metal ferrules separate the steel and wood to lend this desk a dynamic, light look. Furthermore, the tabletop is reversible, allowing the user to work on both sides – or use one side for work and the other for meals or entertaining.

The PK52 Professor Desk is also available in a more compact size as the PK52A Student Desk. An optional drawer in both desks offers elegant storage space, and both can easily double as dining tables.

Created in 1952 for the American-Scandinavian Foundation’s New York office, Arne Jacobsen’s elegant AJ52 Society Table is a fluid fusion of Bauhaus, functionalism and industrial design.

A timeless example of the Danish architect’s functionalist approach to design, the Society Table was conceived at the peak of Arne Jacobsen's career.

Jacobsen harnessed new techniques and materials to create the slender writing desk, which features a fine-structured leather top that wraps tightly around a tubular metal frame.

Beneath the table, a six-drawer unit, also in wood and veneer, is suspended from fine metal tubes – a feature that, together with the slim frame and solid-wood feet, contributes to the desk’s air of lightness.

The drawer unit can be mounted beneath the left or righthand side of the table; choose from solid oak, walnut or black-painted oak drawers with matching feet.

The optional AJ52-L Lamp Module serves as a seamless extension of the desk design, with conical desk lamp in brushed stainless steel and a glass-fronted, wood-and-veneer letter compartment.

The AJ52 Society Table is available in two sizes, with or without the tabletop compartment and desk lamp.

The CH110 desk was created in 1970 as a part of Hans Wegner’s CH100 Series, which was relaunched in 2008 in celebration of Carl Hansen & Søn’s 100th anniversary.

The desk stands out in many ways from his usual style of solid-wood furniture and was part of an exclusive office concept. The series features some of Wegner’s most distinctive steel-framed furniture.

In the CH110 desk, Wegner illustrates another side of his talent for furniture design in the gathering of the table top, rails and two slender drawers into one large veneered element, resting upon two slim supporting legs in stainless flat steel.

The drawers are equipped with delicate, distinctive handles in stainless steel and finished with dovetail joints. Each one is practically divided with one equipped with a small tray with a rounded bottom intended for storing small, precious things.

Åkande Desk | Onecollection

‘Åkande’ means Water Lily in Danish and is a furniture series designed by Jonas Lyndby Jensen, former winner of the Finn Juhl Prize. The series, which counts two stools, one side table, and a desk, is characterized by its irresistible detailing around the edges, reminiscent of a single leaf from a Water Lily.

This feature strives to soften the appearance of the hard wood and give the design a living and organic shape. In order to achieve this result, wood as the sole material plays a crucial role, as artificial materials would never allow for the same degree of tactility, warmth and sensuousness.

The stool with four legs and the desk are available in solid oak. The stool with three legs and the side table are available in both solid oak and solid walnut.

“One of the early images that popped into my mind when designing the series was the leaf of a Water Lily. My dad used to swim in lakes and pick Water Lilies. However, the association in my mind was not to the flower, but rather the round, flat leaf with the protruding collar. The flower of a Water Lily is the star of the lake, and the leaf serves to support it. In similar fashion, I humbly perceive my line of designs as a supplement to those of my idol, Finn Juhl.” ~ Jonas Lyndby Jensen
